Mr.
Dan Knopf is the Director of Bands at Highlands Ranch High
School. He comes to Highlands Ranch after serving
four years as the Director of Instrumental Music at
South High
School
in Denver.
Mr.
Knopf received a Bachelor of Music degree from The Juilliard School,
where he was a bassoon student of Frank Morelli. Mr. Knopf continued
his studies with Mr. Morelli at Yale University, and earned a Master
of Music degree. He has been on the music faculty of the
Metropolitan State College of Denver since 1999, and was previously
on the music faculty at Western Connecticut State University.
Mr. Knopf continues to perform actively
as a chamber musician and soloist, and is a member of the Colorado
Chamber Players. He has appeared as a soloist with the Colorado
Chamber Players, the Evergreen Chamber Orchestra, and the MSCD
Symphony Orchestra, among others.
In his spare time, he also enjoys
reading, acting, singing, composing and arranging. He is a member of
Chamber Music America, the Colorado Music Educator’s Association,
and MENC (the National Association for Music Education). Mr. Knopf’s
mother, Tana, taught instrumental music in Denver Public Schools for
26 years, and is a counselor at
Denver North High
School. He was married to his fiancé Angela on
June 4th ,
2005.
